HSE Paper - Experimental validation of PipeTech release model

09/06/2010
The UK HSE have released a report on a study of the PipeTech software package comparing simulation results with experimentally measured values.

PipeTech is intended to predict the properties of a release of material from a damaged pipe to aid in judging potential consequences of a leak. The general conclusion of the report is that a PipeTech simulation produces a reasonable match to reality in cases of a release through a large rupture, but there is less confidence in its accuracy for a release through a small puncture.

The report is available here: HSE Paper (PDF).
