US National Fire Protection Association - Updated Disaster Management Standards for 2010
31/03/2010The US National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has released an updated 2010 Edition of NFPA 1600®, "Standard on Disaster/Emergency Management and Business Continuity Programs".
The standard defines a common set of actions that a large organisation can follow to set up, maintain and develop an emergency management programme. It can be considered a checklist for preparedness against unforseeable events. It addresses management, planning, prevention, mitigation, implementation, response, recovery, testing and improvement.
The NFPA 1600 standards document is available through the NFPA website. It may be downloaded free as a PDF or purchased in print, both from here: NFPA 1600
